Draft v0.1 ยท open standard

Cookwala

The world's first and largest robot cooking recipes index and CLI.

Mission: help end world hunger and make people healthier, so that everyone eats the right food, cooked the right way, in the right amount, with the least waste.

Cookwala is an open, royalty-free standard and a free public index of recipes that robots, smart appliances and AI agents can execute safely, end to end, alone or together with people and other machines.

What's in it

Executable recipes

Typed steps with parameters, measurable end conditions (temperature, food-state cues, time windows) and defined failure paths.

Safety as data

Hazards, food-safety checkpoints, allergens, supervision levels, abort procedures and kitchen-wide safety events.

Local rules

Policy packs for food-safety codes, dietary rules such as halal, venues and households, checked before cooking.

Kitchen teamwork

A local hub protocol for robots, ovens, cooktops, fridges, alarms, people, AI agents, delivery and notifications.

Every interface

Static JSON, REST, GraphQL, MQTT / WebSocket / SSE events, MCP, A2A and the cookwala CLI.

A reasoner, not a database

What can I cook, fix my mistake and resume, rescue the meal, store it, feed 40 people, split work across robots: answers a robot can apply.

Feeding everyone

Programs, needs, pledges and impact reports let food organizations, kitchens, grocers and robots work as one network.

Open to everyone

No API keys, no membership. Apache-2.0, CC BY 4.0 and CC0, plus a patent non-assertion pledge.
